Bern's may attract glamorous vistors and loyal locals, but the focus is firmly on the food. Luminaries from out of town automatically visit Bern's when they arrive in the Tampa Bay Area. For decades, the steakhouse has maintained its reputation for almost fanatically perfect food and serivce. Start with on of the 24 varieties of caviar. Move on to Vichysoisse, a creamy soup served chilled, accompanied by garlic toast and crackling homemade potato chips. The chateaubriand is delectable. Desserts include chocolate Key lime lasagna and espresso brownie with macadamia-nut ice cream. The wine cellars bulge with close to 500,000 bottles among them.
